Sony PlayStation 5 Sony announced that 46.6 million units of PlayStation 5 game consoles have been sold since November 2020. On the other hand, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sold 5 million units 11 days after its release.
Sony had a blockbuster quarter when it comes to PlayStation 5 sales. The company sold 4.9 million PS5s in its second fiscal quarter, which ended on September 30, bringing the total number of consoles sold to 46.6 million.
Sony could not meet the demands for the console due to supply chain problems when it first launched, but it increased production last year and announced that it has sold more than 40 million PS5 consoles since it went on sale in November 2020.
IT NEEDS TO SELL 16.8 MILLION MORE
However, Sony will need to sell 16.8 million more units to reach its target of 25 million PS5 shipments for this fiscal year Sony PlayStation 5.
That’s a huge number considering Sony sold just 19.1 million PS5 consoles in its entire fiscal year 2022.
AN INCREASE IN SALES IS EXPECTED WITH THE SLIM MODEL
However, according to Reuters, Sony President Hiroki Totoki is confident that the company can achieve this goal very easily.
The company expects an increase in sales with the launch of PS5 Slim models this month.
SPIDER-MAN 2 SOLD 5 MILLION IN THE FIRST 11 DAYS
In addition to hardware sales, Sony reported that it sold 67.6 million games in the second quarter, but only 4.7 million of those were first-party games.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sold 5 million copies in the first 11 days, compared to 9 million copies in 80 days.
